Thumbs up Using the Reputation System

The reputation system is available for all members to use. The reputation system gives you ability to give positive or negative feedback based upon posts. This provides a quality feedback system to the posts and members of the forum. You can use this by selecting the "add to <user's name> reputation" link in the right top of each post. Once selected you will be asked if you approve or disapprove of the member’s post. Approval will add 1 point to that member's reputation. Disapproval will subtract 1 point. You can also leave a comment or reason for the reputation that is visible by the user. Members cannot see who left the comment but will know which thread it was related to.

Here are the initial rules of our reputation system:
  • For every 2 posts you make, you gain 1 point in reputation-altering power towards others
  • For every 2 points you get in positive reputation, you gain 1 point in reputation-altering power towards others
  • Every 1 day, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power
  • Administrators have a much higher reputation-altering power and may give chunks of good (or bad) reputation at random times.
You can view the reputation approvals and disapprovals along with comments left for you in your User Control Panel. You can also see the comments left for other users if you go to Members List -> click on any user.

The reputation system helps to provide a quality aspect to the site and let’s the community learn who the experienced members are. We encourage participation in the site and use of the reputation system. Happy posting!

Hi Joe,

How is it possible that I see members with a high reputation who are not in the top reputation list? Just curious.

Cheers, Ton
